Randy Harwood has been SCUBA diving since 1975 and has been photographing the marine environment since 1978. Diving all over the world, he has visited Mexico and Latin American, many of the islands in the Caribbean , Hawaii, Fiji, Micronesia, the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, The Republic of the Maldives, French Polynesia, the Philippines, Africa, Cocos and Malpelo Islands and Australia. He regularly dives in California and still considers the kelp forests of California a favorite dive destination. Active in the Los Angeles Underwater Photographic Society for over 20 years, he served as the Society President for 7 years. Randy's "Underwater World" calendar has been in continuous publication since 1986. He has contributed numerous photographs and articles to books, advertising media and magazines, including "Outdoor Photographer", "SCUBA World", Rodales "SCUBA Diving", "Outdoor California" and many more. In addition to his love for photography, Randy Harwood works as a dentist in Southern California. Dr. Harwood opened his general dental practice in the LA South Bay area in 1978, and celebrated his 30-year anniversary in the same location in 2008! Besides teaching others, he has always enjoyed learning from the masters of dentistry and continually attends workshops and residencies to further his knowledge and skills, and to provide an ever expanding range of services to his patients. For over ten years, Dr. Harwood was active in both the local component and State professional dental organizations. He was a member of the West Los Angeles Dental Society (WLADS) Board of Directors and was a committee member and Chairman of the WLADS Peer Review Committee for eight years. Following his tenure at WLADS, he was appointed to the California Dental Association Peer Review Committee and served there for 6 more years.
