May 2, 2011 - You are VERY VERY right and yes Irian Jaya is very much in bad danger in many ways, The Illegal Mining is causing some shocking environmental issues with the use of arsenic and Mercury I am a member of Ocean Geographic and we plan to go back to Irian Jaya September to do some tagging of Whale Sharks, along with some other work, I MAYBE carrying the flag for the explorer club.

Feb 28, 2012 - This is hardly enough gold for anyone but the locals to scrap out a living, and if you look at google earth, you will not even see these places, what you see are the global internationals that have illegally bought concessions from the government. Leave these poor locals alone and let them prosper from the land they have lived on for 100k years.
