As a result of the prolonged occupation & destruction of infrastructure in Timor Leste by Indonesia the people are & will suffer for some time. The Dutch made a terrible mistake, unlike Australia in PNG. in trying to hang on to their colonial states. The Dutch were against Indonesia taking over West Papua & put in to motion self determination measures. Indonesia invaded & held a farcical reforendum conning the UN into allowing them to take over.

In the late 60s I worked in PNG for almost 2yrs.My work was partly to teach/train the locals.Everything we all did was with the ultimate intention of self determination for the indiginous people of PNG. many people think it was too soon, I thought not.They have made administrative mistakes & will again, so has australia & most other countries, it's all a part of the learning process.The only thing Indonesia has learnt is how to be a colonialist. They know nothing else.
