Freeport McMoran has admitted paying millions to the Indonesian Police and Military, who essentially operate as mercenaries that do the company's bidding. These forces engaged in systematic arrest, torture, & killings of West Papuans and others deemed critical of Freeport's operations. Competition between the police and military for Freeport's patronage are likely responsible for repeted sniper attacks on Freeport employees near it's mine, over the last decade. We believe Freeport-McMoran must be held accountable for it's atrocious record.
